Fantasy Football

With the football season right around the corner, we are going to take a look at my top 10 fantasy options for this years fantasy draft. This years top ten will be a bit different than previous years, so don’t be surprised not to see some big names at the top of the list! This top 10 list will compose of 5 of my top projected fantasy players overall (for the whole season), and 5 sleeper players (in my opinion). A “sleeper” is defined as a player who is projected to have an above average to good year, but is not necessarily high on people’s draft boards. I have integrated a specific formula for my top 5 overall players and the formula goes as follows;

  1. The player’s final PPR ranking in the 2018-2019 season
  2. The player’s total stats from the 2018-2019 season
  3. Importance of the player to their respective team (workload, % of touches)
  4. My opinion of the player

lets also mention that there will be no QB in my top ten as we are going to stick to skill positions. So lets get started on my top 10;

  1. Christian McCaffrey. CMC has already solidified himself as a premiere back in this league and with another year under his belt, he will emerge as an RB1 in PPR format leagues. Really in any league.
  2. Saquon Barkley. Going in to season two, Saquon will once again be the workhorse on his respective New York Giants. No matter which QB starts for the Giants (Daniel Jones or Eli Manning), Barkley will remain the go to option whether it’s catching the ball out of the backfield or running the ball.
  3. DeAndre Hopkins. Nuk isn’t only my favorite receiver in the league, but also a certified, as Stephen A. likes to say, baaaad man. D. Hopkins will receive the bulk of his teams catches and targets and will come out as the best WR1 in the game. Especially in PPR leagues. Keep Nuk in your first round radar.
  4. Julio Jones. Julio Jones along with DeAndre Hopkins, is the best talent at the WR position in the league. Year after year he posts crazy receiving numbers in terms of yards and receptions. If the Falcons can finally get that man in the end zone this year, he will be a WR2 behind Nuk.
  5. Joe Mixon. This pick was sort of a stretch. Last year Mixon emerged as Cincinnati’s number one back but Cincy normally plays “running back by commity” style football. They have some talent at the running back position but with a new coach in Zac Taylor at the helm, I believe that Joe Mixon can really come into his own, everydown back and become an RB1 type talent. Make sure he is in your fantasy radar.

Now lets take a look at my sleeper 5. These sleepers are obviously subjective. What I might see as a sleeper may not be a sleeper to another person, but maybe he could be! These sleepers will definitely help out in later rounds if you’re in a slump and are not too sure who to grab.

  1. N’Keal Harry. The rookie WR out of Arizona State has high hopes this year from the coaching staff in New England. Coach Bill Belichick has never drafted a receiver in the first round of the draft and are looking for someone to fill in for Rob Gronkowski as he enjoys his retirement in the entertainment field. Look for Harry to be on the board late in your draft. He is definitely a low risk, high reward player.
  2. Carlos Hyde. Now some may call me bias because of my fanatic views on Ohio State players, but this is a legit sleeper pick. The Kansas City Chiefs are a high powered, fast paced offense without a healthy starting running back as of now. Hyde can fill in that void atleast until Williams comes back but maybe even more in the backup running back position.
  3. Rashaad Penny. Penny had a rough start to his rookie campaign but broke out late in the season and became the rotation starter in the Seahawks backfield behind Chris Carson. He should have a breakout sophomore season.
  4. Phillip Lindsey. Now you may be wondering why Phillip Lindsey is number four on my list? Well, Phillip is not really a sleeper but to many people, he could be. That’s why he comes in at number 4. Many top fantasy option rankings that i have seen has Phillip Lindsey pretty low for my liking and that’s why he is worthy of a sleeper. He will probably go between rounds 5-7 in most PPR drafts so make sure you take a chance and grab him before someone else does.
  5. Christian Kirk. Kirk had a good rookie season in 2018 and will look to have an even better sophomore season. The quarterback situation is a little iffy but I believe Christian Kirk will turn out to be Kyler Murray favorite target in Kliff Kingsbury’s offensive scheme.
